Each year the Texoma community comes together for a celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Austin College is proud to host this event and to help raise scholarship funds to benefit college-bound residents of Grayson County through the NAACP Grayson Branch Scholarship.

2024 Speakers
Dr. Geré Feltus ’01
Dr. Geré Feltus, a native of Dallas, graduated from Duncanville High School in 1997. She then received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Austin College in 2001 and her Medical Degree from Wake Forest University in 2006. She completed her residency in Family and Community Medicine at the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 2009. Following residency, she returned home to Texas to serve as the Medical Director of the Mesquite Employee Health Center and the supervising physician for the Mesquite Community Health Center. Dr. Feltus joined the Austin College Board of Trustees in the fall of 2023. She is a Board-Certified Family Physician and was elected as a McKinney City Council member representing District 3 in 2021.
Dr. Feltus is the proud mother of two girls and a proud alumna of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership McKinney Class of 2020 and a member of One Community Church.
Yvan Konan ’26
Yvan Konan is a sophomore majoring in business finance with a minor in accounting. He is a STAT (Student Today Alumni Tomorrow) ambassador and a member of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and Black Expressions. He is from Ivory Coast, West Africa, and lived in Spain for a few years. After he graduates, he wants to become a management consultant.
