Runners in the area are invited to participate in the chip-timed Austin College “A” Run for ’Roos 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, October 15, beginning at Jerry Apple Stadium on campus. Entry fee for the event is $25 per runner through October 13. Registration is required. The event is being held this year in conjunction with the College’s Homecoming.
Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., with the Fun Run starting at 8 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk begins at 8:30 p.m.
Medals will be given to the top three male and female 5K contestants in each age group: 1-14, 15-19; 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. The top overall male and female finisher each will receive a $50 gift card. Awards will be determined by chip timing.
All proceeds from the events will support athletics programs at Austin College, where students may participate in 16 teams for intercollegiate completion as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Austin College’s Athletics Enrichment Fund directly supports the annual operating budget of the Austin College Athletics Department, including provision for travel, equipment, awards, and uniforms. The event is hosted by the Athletics “A” Alumni Association.
