The Austin College baseball team will be heading back to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference playoffs in the 2010 season, clinching one of the top three spots in the SCAC West Division with a win over Hendrix College last weekend. The ’Roos will travel to Millington, Tennessee for the SCAC Championship taking place on the weekend of April 23-25.
The ’Roos have their final chance to jockey for position within the West Division this weekend when they host Trinity University for a pair of games, beginning with a 2:00 p.m. tilt on Saturday. The ’Roos will then face the Tigers, currently the top seed in the SCAC West, at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday in their final conference matchup of the season.
With a 9-9 conference record, the ’Roos are currently in third place in the SCAC West, with the Tigers holding onto the top spot with an 11-4 record in conference. Millsaps, a team that the ’Roos recently swept in a three game series, is second at 9-5 and will take on Southwestern in a three game series before closing out the year against Trinity next weekend in another three game set, giving the ’Roos ample opportunity to move up the SCAC West standings prior to the championship tournament.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
