Faculty Bio:
Dr. Fairley teaches courses in interpersonal communication, organizational communication, intercultural communication, and health communication, as well as public speaking, communication in relationships, and material culture and communication. He has also taught travel courses on the relationship between culture, communication, and nature in China, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico, and Iceland.
Dr. Fairley received his Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication, and his Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Arkansas. He earned his Ph. D. degree in Communication from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Fairley has also completed extensive training in Asian Studies from the East-West Center in Hawaii.
His academic work includes numerous presentations at regional, national, and international academic conferences, a co-authored Communication textbook Messages in Context, journal articles, reports and teaching resources. Dr. Fairley has also been a guest lecturer on international business practices in Lima, Peru. He has received many awards from academic institutions and professional organizations for his teaching and research. He has also conducted workshops for businesses and academic institutions on a variety of topics including cultural adaptation in learning environments, intercultural communication in business encounters, and listening in the workplace and relationships.
