In 1994, Tony Dean was a full-time student at Austin College studying computer science and mathematics and was in the middle of changing careers from restaurant management to software development. The private sector was only taking baby steps on the Internet, but Dean saw an opportunity. In 1999, he founded DSBWorldWide, a website design and marketing firm.

Dr. Fazlur Rahman was a distinguished judge at the Georgia Tech Social Business Forum on October 17.
Dr. David Baker was a speaker at the Collin College Distinguished Speaker Series on November 1. He spoke on Creativity and Astrophysics.
Dr. David Baker spoke on “Extreme Stuff in the Night Sky” with a book signing and telescope viewing at the Extreme Star Party at the Heard Museum, McKinney, TX. Austin College students were available to answer questions about the moon and Jupiter as they demonstrated the use of telescopes.
Robert Hanna, City Manager of Denison, created two new paid internship positions at the City of Denison. Austin College students Vanessa Castro and Lauren Hill will start their internships this month.
Dr. Karla McCain and Dr. Stephanie Gould took eight Austin College students to the 67th Southwest Regional American Chemical Society Meeting the week of November 7. All of the students presented their work at the meeting (six of the students did research over the summer in the Chemistry Department and the other two students did research at other schools).
