Internships & Applied Learning

100% of students complete an applied learning experience before graduating.

To be prepared for the world ahead, Austin College has designed our curriculum to give you the advantage and blend your classroom experience with applied learning opportunities.  Applied learning includes internships, lab research, and integrated learning experiences such as Model United Nations and study abroad.  This means that you graduate with both a deep knowledge of your subject area and practical experience applying that knowledge in a real-world setting.

The Center offers assistance with finding internship opportunities in your field through Austin College sponsored programs or any one of numerous non-college related experiences. Internships are an integral way for you to gain insight into the world of work, explore careers, and build your portfolio. These experiences enhance not only your career path, but also your academic path when it comes to choosing a major or considering graduate or professional school.

  • Set Goals for the experience and learn how to make the most of it.

Experience

  • Work with a supervisor and co-workers
  • Develop job skills
  • Learn about vocational choices within your desired field
  • Gain real-world experience for your resume

Reflection

  • Engage in active reflection of the experience
  • Assess your goals and whether they were met
