Concentrations
At Austin College, we want you to be a part of our ensembles, regardless of your intended major. Every quality ensemble, from our fantastic choirs to exciting bands to amazing orchestras, is open to every AC student who can pass an audition.
JOIN THE BAND! Studies show that participating in a MUSIC ensemble helps new students develop a sense of belonging more quickly, while college musicians have higher GPAs and more academic success.
Choral music at Austin College offers something for every kind of singer. The Austin College A Cappella Choir sings on- and off-campus, including regional and national tours, and is made up of students from every major across campus.
AC has great opportunities for string players, whether you major in music or not. Our orchestras include members from every other AC major and are open by audition to all students.
Piano and Organ study at Austin College is meant to provide keyboard players with great instruction on their instrument and also to provide opportunities for collaborative performance.
Finish in Four*

- perform as a soloist and in collaboration with other students and faculty;
- clearly communicate music theory in oral, written, and electronic formats;
- demonstrate critical thinking and analysis of music; and
- express musical concepts and styles in an historically appropriate context.
