Austin College alumni can be found in successful careers around the globe—and today’s students can be equally successful! Just as you create an academic plan with your faculty mentor for classes, you can visit the Center for Career & Professional Development to establish a plan for career success. The Center's staff will help you discover interests and strengths, set goals, and build skills for your first job search or graduate school application.

Career Study Off-Campus (CSOC)

Distinctive Internship Program

You have an interest and we have the team to match you to an outside internship opportunity for academic credit.  The CSOC program at Austin College is designed to help you:

  • add more meaning to your academic studies by giving you a chance to apply theories learned in classes to “real life” situations;
  • to identify those interdisciplinary skills gained from the classroom that are utilized and applied in a particular workplace;
  • and to develop an understanding of the broad base of liberal arts knowledge and skills which may be applied creatively to a myriad of life experiences.

  • Resume: assist you in starting, building or refining your resume. 
  • Professional Profile: receive a professionally taken headshot for use on your social media pages and resume, along with reviewing your online profile on LinkedIn.

The Center for Career & Professional Development partners with employers to assist with employment needs.  We offer a variety of opportunities and events in which employers can connect with our student body.  We follow the "Principals for Professional Conduct for Career Services and Employment Professionals" outlined by the National Association of College and Employers.

Interviewing

The Center for Career & Professional Development welcomes employers to recruit candidates from a variety of college majors.

Recruiters may pre-screen resumes prior to the interview date. The sign-up procedure for students is coordinated by the Center for Career & Professional Development and individual rooms allow privacy during the interview. Although we allow third party recruiting, we require disclosure of the company and job descriptions prior to recruitment and/or interviewing.

It is up to the discretion of the Center staff to recommend to employers the most appropriate method to recruit students on campus. Circumstances and time may determine availability of facilities. A three week minimum notice is necessary to schedule a campus visit.
