ATP Principal Expectations Updated on: June 7, 2023 As a current graduate student in the Austin Teacher Program at Austin College, our interns must be present for certain events and meet certain program and TEA expectations to qualify to apply for a standard certificate. Please read and sign this form to acknowledge that you understand and agree to the following terms. Per TEA requirements, the Intern MUST TEACH in their certification field for at least 60% or more of each day. (For example: might include one period of coaching or duties such as study hall).* I Understand 2. The Intern MUST ATTEND full-day courses in the summer prior to the intern year. Elementary (EC-6) Intern courses run from mid-June to the last week of July. Secondary (7-12) and All-Level (EC-12) Intern courses run from the last week of May to the first week in July.* I Understand 3. The Intern MUST ATTEND three full-day class sessions: one in summer, one in late September or early October, and one in early December.*(NOTE: Dates will be provided in advance) I Understand 4. The Intern MUST ATTEND online class sessions from 5:00pm-8:00pm once a week during fall semester.* I Understand 5. The principal will inform all interested parties (coaches, instructional leaders, level-leads, PLCs, etc.) about the Intern’s obligations, and confirm that all course/TEA obligations will be met without interference.* I Understand 6. The Intern MUST HAVE an assigned mentor teacher in the same content field who has at least three years of experience. The ATP Field Supervisor will send three online feedback forms to the mentor over the course of the year.* I Understand 7. The Intern will be formally observed by an ATP Field Supervisor THREE TIMES in the fall and TWO TIMES in the spring. The building principal is required to indicate receipt (via email) of all FIVE observation summaries from the ATP Field Supervisor.* I Understand 8. The Principal will submit feedback on the Intern’s progress.
