Instructor: Tamra Dollar
Description: Students will become acquainted with the world of children’s literature – its style, its characters, its moral dilemmas, its excellence. We will generate teaching strategies with each book that we read inside and outside of class, and use those strategies to teach our classmates. We will explore a children’s literature textbook which highlights the distinctive qualities of children’s literature. We will be immersed in the books written for children and adolescents, but with the grace, style, humor, and drama of the best of adult fiction. Note: This course is a requirement for those certifying in EC-6, and English 4-8 in the Austin Teacher Program. Therefore, ATP students who have taken EDUC 225 will be given first priority in registration.
