I majored in Art at Austin College and went on to study Level Design at the Guildhall at SMU. In the game industry, I have worked at companies like Gearbox Software, Atari, THQ, and multiple small independent developers. I currently work as a User Experience expert, focused on solving usability problems on a wide Array of digital products. On a daily basis I’m expected to shift focus from user and market research to layout and Typography, 3d environment design, marketing strategy, product pitches, or writing code. Outside of work I learn new technologies and build interactive prototypes and art using virtual reality.
Austin College prepared me for a career at the junction of art, design, technology, and business by giving me a strong foundation in Art and Art History as well as a firm grasp of who I am as a process-driven designer. Anyone can learn to use an app, but the real value is provided when you can also answer questions like “Why.” I lean on this deeper skillset to answer fundamental questions about my work every day. We are living in the most prolific period in human history and the arts education I received from Austin College is an important pillar of my career.
