“My experience at Austin College has been a cornerstone of my journey, even as I shifted paths from my original intentions. I entered AC with the goal of pursuing a career in the health professions and earned a biology degree. However, shortly after graduating, I decided to take a leap into the world of business analytics—a field that, at first glance, seems entirely unrelated. Yet, the skills and values instilled in me at AC have proven to be remarkably transferable and impactful. Through my lab work, I gained analytical skills such as process documentation, which now serve me daily as an analyst. The ability to conduct experiments and troubleshoot in the lab taught me how to investigate and explain data variances to stakeholders, bridging technical gaps with clarity. Furthermore, the emphasis AC placed on gathering, interpreting, and communicating data prepared me to tailor information to diverse audiences—whether it's a technical peer, a client, or a board member. Above all, the high standards expected of us at AC have given me a work ethic and attention to detail that sets me apart in the professional world. While my career path may look completely different from what I envisioned when I enrolled in 2014, Austin College’s rigorous and holistic approach to education remains one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, shaping me into the professional I am today.”
