2025 First Decade Award

Jeremy Swisher majored in biochemical neuroscience with a minor in exercise and sports science, graduating with honors in 2017. His Austin College experience included being a four-year starter for ’Roo basketball and the team’s senior leader and captain.  Jeremy was active in Greek life as a member of Zeta Chi Beta and Alpha Phi Omega. He served on the Student Athlete Advisory Board, was president of the ’Roo Suites Student Board, and as an ACE Leader, guiding newly admitted students through Austin College Experience visits.

Jeremy’s successful academic path continued as he earned his medical degree from Texas A&M University College of Medicine in 2021, where he became a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society—recognizing his human connection and compassionate care. He completed his family medicine residency and board certification through Wake Forest University in 2024, and his sports medicine fellowship and board certification at the University of California, Los Angeles earlier this year. For his post-graduate work, he has received such honors as the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Research Award, and the American Medical Society for Sport Medicine Foundation Resident Scholarship Award. His writings have been recognized as one of the Top 20 Articles of 2023 by the American Academy of Family Physicians, and he earned Ortho EM Pearls Author of the Year Honorable Mention in 2023.

Jeremy is currently a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor for the UCLA Department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Division of 
Sports Medicine. Jeremy has worked with UCLA Athletics and professional teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, 
and Sparks.  In 2025, he was selected to provide medical coverage at the NFL Combine. He was recently interviewed by the New 
York Times based on his expertise in Sports Medicine. 

Jeremy, along with fellow Class of 2017 members Cody Myers and Josh Dickerman, co-founded The Extra Step Foundation, which partners with Children’s Health Dallas to provide direct support to patients and their families facing financial hardship.
