Austin College is the oldest institution of higher education in Texas still operating under original name and charter. Founded as a Presbyterian College in 1849, we maintain a covenant relationship with the Presbyterian Church (USA), while at the same time cultivating an inclusive atmosphere that supports each person’s growth and development regardless of religious tradition.
Austin college is known for top-tier academics and pre-professional training, interdisciplinary programs, study abroad opportunities, and an innovative undergraduate curriculum in which each student completes a major and a minor (or second major) along with applied learning experiences that prepare them for their next step. We also offer two master’s degrees: a Master of Arts in Teaching program and a newly launched Master of Medical Science - Physician Assistant Program. We are also known for student leadership programs, a four-year faculty-to-student mentoring programs, student-faculty collaborative scholarship, and a faculty with a strong commitment to teaching.
