The Austin College Commons

The Austin College Commons, casually known as the Commons, is a prime gathering space at the heart of the Austin College campus. With an artificial turf lawn under a sprawling pecan tree, students enjoy gathering here year-round to eat lunch, study, or just hang out.  A pergola shade structure, bistro lights, WIFI and electrical outlets throughout, and sidewalk access to make the space accessible are a few of the amenities that make the commons a favorite for informal outdoor gathering and lounging.

The restoration of the Commons (previously referred to as the WCC North Lawn), was completed in August of 2023, and n November 3, 2023, the Austin College Board of Trustees dedicated in celebration of the College’s 175th year. The Commons were designed by Chris Tronzano of Studio Green Spot of Allen, Texas, and completed by Williams Landscape Inc. of Melissa, Texas.
