The Austin College Department of Chemistry invites applications for the position of Instructor of Organic Chemistry. Candidates must have M.S. in hand before the position begins, start date is negotiable.
Austin College seeks to hire an M.S-level or above candidate with a degree in organic chemistry, or a closely related field of chemistry, previous teaching experience in organic chemistry is desirable. Responsibilities will include teaching multiple sections of Organic Chemistry I & II laboratory, General Chemistry I & II laboratory, setup, maintenance, and breakdown of all Organic Chemistry labs and maintaining safety documentation for these labs. Applicants should have a strong commitment to teaching organic chemistry.
The Chemistry Department at Austin College is ACS-certified and confers the highest percentage of degrees in chemistry of all ACS-certified programs in Texas. Austin College is a national selective undergraduate institution with an ACS certified Chemistry Department of 7 faculty, as well as a lab manager/department safety officer, a lab coordinator/instructor for General Chemistry, and an instrumentation technician shared across the science division. Departmental activities include a summer research program, supported by a Welch Foundation departmental grant and other external granting agencies, a fall and spring seminar series, and an ACS student organization. This position will support organic chemistry summer research.
