Phishing Scams

Phishing scams are sneaky emails or texts that try to trick you into clicking links or giving away passwords or other private details.

Quick Ways to Keep your Inbox Safe from Phishing Scams:

  • Pause before you click. If something feels off—even if it looks official—double-check.
  • Look for weird email addresses or typos. Real messages from the college will be clear and professional.
  • When in doubt, hop away! Don’t respond or click links. Forward suspicious emails to IT
  • The correct links for the Student Hub, Self-Service, and more are always available on the New Students & Current Students pages. If you think you may need to take the action described in an email, you can come here to find safe links to online student resources.
  • Never share your password. Not even with someone who “needs to verify your account.” Austin College will never ask you for your password.

We’re here to help! If you’re unsure about an email or message, ask before you act.
