Asia-Pacific Scholars Program

The Asia-Pacific Scholars program is a special opportunity for students to investigate the vital role of the Asia-Pacific region in current and future geopolitics through academic coursework and experiential learning.

Students who participate in the program will enroll in the Spring 2024 course PSCI350: International Politics of the Asia-Pacific to gain an understanding of the Asia-Pacific region from a comparative perspective and produce a research design. In Summer 2024, students will then travel for 6 weeks to three countries in the Asia-Pacific (Australia, Singapore, and South Korea) to collect research data and understand their topic through experiential learning.  Once back in the U.S., students will complete their research paper by the end of the summer.

Students admitted into the program:

  • Have the summer program travel expenses covered
  • Receive a $4000 summer stipend

Students must complete all components of the program (Spring course, summer travel, and research paper) in order to remain eligible for covered travel expenses and stipend.
