Position Summary: | Plans, organizes, coordinates, directs and manages the operations, activities and personnel of the Campus Police Department. Develops and implements policies. Oversees semi-annual fire drills and other safety related programs. Prepares and submits various reports to respective personnel and or state or federal agencies. Manages campus lock and key system. Investigates incidents as needed. Attends and or leads meetings as directed or assigned. Performs essential functions personally, through others, or in conjunction with designated personnel or outside vendors/experts

Minimum Knowledge: (Obtained through education, experience, training, licensure, certification, or through a combination of the aforementioned.) | High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) and 10 years of experience as a certified police officer and 5 years of experience as a law enforcement supervisor. (Subject to the approval of the Vice President for Student Affairs, a suitable combination of education/certifications and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements, e.g., a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice or related field may substitute for experience on a year for year basis, not to exceed four years or a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice or related field may substitute for police officer experience and supervisory experience on a year for year basis, not to exceed six years.) Completed (TCOLE Course) regarding the use of the Texas and National Crime Information Center Databases TCIC/NCIC |
Desired Knowledge: (Obtained through education, experience, training, licensure, certification, or through a combination of the aforementioned.) | Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice or related field. Prior completion of the TCOLE New Chief’s Development Program (NCDP).
