Solstice Calendar

Solstice Calendar

A signature landmark on campus and the quintessential metaphor for the importance of studying liberal arts at Austin College is the Solstice Calendar.  The sculpture combines art and science, constructed of three pieces of Texas pink granite, a scientific instrument marking each season's solstice with a shadow falling over metal bars that are part of the sculpture.
