I work in both English and Gender Studies, and my teaching and research interests include medieval literature, queer theory, fantasy, and social justice pedagogy. As a teacher, I’m committed to equity, representation, academic freedom, and inclusive education. Recently, I served as a principal investigator on Austin College’s “Pathways to a Just Society” grant, where I co-led faculty workshops on topics like fostering inclusive classrooms, teaching systemic thinking, and engaging community partners in social justice work. My teaching and research explore how literature reflects cultural attitudes about gender, sexuality, power, and identity.
Current courses I’ve developed or taught include Intro to Gender Studies, Queer Middle Ages, Fantasy Literature, and Shantay, You Stay: The Art of Drag, a JanTerm course exploring drag history, queer aesthetics, and performance including visits to local drag shows. Beyond the classroom, I serve as faculty sponsor for the GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance) and Sigma Phi Chi sorority, and I am a board member of GALA North Texas, a nonprofit organization supporting LGBTQ+ communities across the region.
