I graduated from Austin College in 2016 with a degree in Cell & Molecular Biology. I went on to attend Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and School of Medicine and am currently completing clinical rotations in Amarillo, Texas. I expect to receive my Medical Doctorate in May of 2020 and apply for residency training in Psychiatry in July.
My work in academics with the Department of Biology prepared me for success in my medical education. Further, my undergraduate research with Dr. Lance F. Barton and Dr. Kelly Reed prepared me to pose questions and investigate issues affecting patient populations, such as LGBTQIA+, and women experiencing depression in the perinatal period. They both were important mentors who trained me with skills to communicate the results of such works in professional conferences and in a manuscript, pending further revisions, that will be submitted for publication in the 2019 – 2020 academic year.
