A.J. Carlson Lecture on the Liberal Arts
The A.J. Carlson Lecture on the Liberal Arts is one of the hallmark events of the fall calendar. Each year, the Johnson center invites a speaker to explore an area of interest related to the teaching of the liberal arts. The series is named for Professor Emeritus Dr. A.J. “Jack Carlson”, who taught history at Austin College from 1962 until his retirement in 1994. Over the course of his career, Dr. Carlson became one of the College’s leading voices in support of liberal arts education.
