Lessons and Carols
The Austin College Service of Lessons and Carols opens the 2022 holiday season as one of the first special events in the area. The community is invited to join students, faculty, and staff in the Clifford J. Grum Sanctuary of Wynne Chapel on Thursday, December 1, at 5 p.m. The service will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube at 5 p.m. CST.
The annual service, led by Chaplain John Williams, includes Hebrew and Christian scriptures, carols, anthems, a candle-lighting ceremony, and performances by Austin College’s A Cappella Choir and Chamber Orchestra. Administrators and faculty will participate including President Steven O’Day; vice president of business affairs Pernell Jones; professor of chemistry Andrew Carr; and professor of biology Kelynne Reed.
Student readers include Albert Perez ’23 of San Antonio, Texas; Jo Pettijohn ’25 of Austin, Texas; Anita Renaud ’26 of Garland, Texas; and Will Woulfe ’26 of Richardson, Texas.
After the service, all are invited to enjoy cocoa and cookies at the tree lighting on Windsor Mall.
