The Craig Professorship in the Arts
Teaching at Austin College is in many ways a dream come true. Coming from a background of working in large Universities, I found that AC is a school that emphasizes the rich and meaningful relationship between the faculty and students in a way that nurtures creative problem solving, individualized learning and rewards both faculty and students with a sense of being part of tradition of excellence and one of great pride. Life is adventurous at AC and there is a real feeling that we are all working together on a mission to explore, experience, prepare and reinvent our purpose as culture advances and the 21st century lays out new challenges and possibilities. Speaking from my own point of view, I have met some of the most amazing people who, even after graduation, have remained close friends. When I see their lives evolve, it reinforces the importance of our work together as faculty, staff and students. It is a team effort! AC is many things to many people, but above all it is a special place.
Drawing, Painting, Design, Directed study in Visual Art
I am a painter and professional artist, working with designers, collectors, art professionals and art galleries nationally and internationally. My work ranges from small paintings, large paintings and murals, as well as large public buildings and private collectors. As a creative researcher, I investigate the natural sciences, music and art history as I begin new works in series of works. The challenge remains one of striking a balance between structure and creative experimentation.
