Austin College Music Department Hosts Student Recital
SHERMAN, TEXAS — The Austin College Music Department invites the community to its upcoming Fall Student Recital, an event dedicated to showcasing the hard work and talent of students enrolled in applied music lessons. These students, who receive specialized instruction in vocal performance or on their chosen instrument, will perform a range of solo pieces across various genres and styles. The recital will be held in Craig Hall on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Each student recital reflects the breadth of student musicianship within the department, featuring performances from voice, trumpet, violin, and viola students, among others. While students in the applied music program regularly perform as part of large ensembles, these recitals provide a unique opportunity for them to display their individual artistry and growth as soloists.
The pieces are carefully selected to highlight the progress students have made over the semester, and many performances will be accompanied by pianist Timothy Jenkins.
