Austin College Wind Symphony to Perform Spring Concert

SHERMAN, TEXAS – The Austin College Wind Symphony will perform a spring concert, titled March Madness. which will be an exploration of the march across multiple forms. The concert will be held in Wynne Chapel on Sunday, April 26 at 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

From a classical Viennese royal march to Sousa's "The Thunderer" in the style of an Adagio, to a Mahler symphony, to a French grand concert march and even a Sousa concert-style encore, there's something for everyone on this performance.

Musical selections will include:

• Königsmarsch – Richard Strauss, ed. Barrett
• Fantasy on a Theme of Sousa – Andrew Boysen Jr.
• Occident and Orient Grand March – Saint-Saëns, ed. Schissel
• Symphony on the Themes of Sousa (II. On The Thunderer) – Ira Hearshen
• The Roosters Lay Eggs in Kansas – Kayhew Lake

The Austin College Wind Symphony, led by Austin College Director of Bands Dr. Ash Glenn, brings together students across departments, community members, and alumni to perform high-caliber wind and percussion music. The ensemble maintains a diverse repertoire of both classical and contemporary works, frequently collaborating with other campus programs to create dynamic mixed-media performances.
