Dr. Martin Wells, Austin College associate professor of classics, is among the group of archeologists who have worked for the past several years at the Huqoq Excavation Project in Israel, which is highlighted in the November issue of National Geographic in the article “These Archaeological Findings Unlocked the Stories of Our Ancestors.” The teams have uncovered an unparalleled range of scenes on the mosaic floor of the fifth-century synagogue in an ancient Jewish village in Israel’s Lower Galilee.
