Selmore Haines III ’80 is starring in Thurgood at the Georgetown Palace Theatre in Georgetown, Texas. This play depicts the life of Thurgood Marshall, the first African American Supreme Court justice, and his role in the historic decision on the Brown v. Board of Education case.

The estate of Clifford J. Grum ’56 donated $20 million to support full-tuition scholarships at Austin College in 2023. This historic gift ranked among the largest philanthropic gifts in Texas. Grum, who died in 2016 at the age of 82, earned a bachelor’s degree from Austin College and maintained deep ties to the college throughout his life.

President Steven P. O’Day, J.D., L.H.D., introduces the Master of Medical Science - Physician Assistant program to address regional healthcare needs. Student volunteers manage the event and assist athletes as part of JanServe, a day of hands-on service during the three-week January Term. JanServe activities are organized by the Austin College Service Station, a student-led office that promotes the involvement of all Austin College students in volunteer and community service efforts.
