Presidential Search

The Search for the 17th President of Austin College

In February 2025, Austin College Board of Trustees Chair Scott Austin and President Steven O’Day announced O’Day’s plans to retire from the institution in summer 2026 – and subsequently launched the College’s search for its seventeenth President.

The Presidential search is led by Chairman Austin with the support of Trustees Kiki McLean ’85 and Joe Sanders ’00, who will serve as co-chairs of the Presidential Search Committee. They have assembled a Committee which includes representatives of the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, and the student body.

The Committee began the search process in spring 2025, with the goal of naming the seventeenth President of Austin College in winter 2026, so that the new President can take the helm of the institution upon O’Day’s retirement.

In April 2025, the Board of Trustees engaged executive search firm LeadExec, headed by Lisa J. Marks, which specializes in recruitment for senior leadership positions within higher education to aid in the search.

The Presidential Job Prospectus will be released in summer 2025. Nominations, suggestions, and questions should be directed to president@leadexec.com.
