My studies in International Relations at Austin College taught me how to be critical of the different perspectives and agendas within the international structure. Though my research and class debates, I gained essential communication skills, qualitative analytical skills, and critical thinking skills which are essential to my studies in international development.
The globally-oriented education I received at Austin College has been essential to both my graduate studies and preparing me to live abroad. Specializing in International Relations has given me a better understanding of the complexities of global political and economic relations which often hinder international development. While this basic understanding greatly helped me in my master’s degree at the London School of Economics, the critical thinking skills and open-minded understanding which were encouraged in almost every discipline I took at Austin College has set me apart from my peers both during my graduate academic pursuits and while living as an expat. The “roo-style” education is really one-of-a-kind, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
