In the summer 2019, I had the opportunity to do cancer research at Dr. Waldmann’s Cytokine Immunology and Immunotherapy Lab in the NIH’s National Cancer Institute. Under the guidance of Dr. Kumar, I researched the complex interactions between cancer cells and the body’s signaling pathways. I also identified novel molecular targets/mechanisms of FDA- approved therapeutic lead molecules and investigated a new therapy option towards inhibiting cancer growth. Through studying the role of CDK4/6 inhibitor in adult T-cell lymphoma, I gained an appreciation for the methods used to develop drugs for treating cancer and other illnesses.
