The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation has officially suspended the men’s water polo season through at least the end of the 2020 calendar year amid the coronavirus pandemic. They based their decision off that of the Pac-12 as well as the decisions from Penn State Behrend and Austin College, each who compete in the MPSF.

Lakeville City Administrator Justin Miller ‘99 was recently named as the 2020 James F. Miller Leadership Award winner by the League of Minnesota Cities. The award is considered the league’s highest honor for appointed city officials and is given annually in recognition for outstanding service.

Five of the six men’s water polo member teams have now independently pulled out of at least a fall season. Austin College suspended men’s water polo fall competition in July, while Penn State Behrend has not announced its plans for the fall water polo season.

Austin College announced that it would suspend competition in men’s water polo for the fall of 2020. The ‘Roo team is in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), which includes USC, UCLA, Cal-Berkeley and Stanford—historically the top teams in NCAA polo.

Austin College will rejoin the American Southwest Conference as an affiliate member in football. The ASC agreement with Austin College formally begins July 1, 2021 and will be for four academic years and the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 football seasons.
