Caroline “Grace” Fullerton ’21 received Honorable Mention for her essay in the 19-21 age group for the Walden Woods Project’s 2017-2018 Live Deliberately Essay Contest. Only the winning award and one honorable mention award were given in the category, which included 2,400 submissions.

Booker ’87 was awarded an Evan Pugh Professorship for faculty members who are nationally or internationally recognized leaders in their fields of research or creative activity by Penn State University. Booker is a professor of chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology and is the Eberly Distinguished Chair in Science at Penn State.

Dr. Meyer will present on Least Terns, the smallest of American Terns, which can be found nesting on sandy beaches along the southern coasts of the United States including at Hagerman. The program is Saturday, June 9, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge.

The National Endowment for the Arts chairman Jane Chu announced that Austin College is one of 60 communities nationwide recommended for funding from the NEA’s Our Town grant program. Austin College will receive a $50,000 grant in support of Focalpoint(!), a series of public photography workshops and participatory public art programs that celebrate the varied cultural traditions of Sherman residents. Focalpoint(!) will officially launch in tandem with Sherman Arts Fest in September 2018.
