Sarah will begin serving as the Director for Ministerial Formation and Advanced Studies at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in December of 2021. Prior to serving at Austin Seminary, Sarah was the Pastor for Children, Youth, and Families at First Presbyterian Church of Austin for fourteen years. After graduating from Austin College, Sarah served for one year as an Upper Elementary Spanish teacher at St. Alcuin Montessori School in Dallas and then married her college sweetheart, fellow ACtivator, Cameron Allen (’04) and they both headed to seminary to become ministers of Word and Sacrament in the PC(USA).
There are so many memorable moments as an ACtivator, but my favorite experience was serving on Jr. High Youthquake teams. Working with a group of college students to provide leadership for a meaningful and fun retreat for middle schoolers was an incredible learning opportunity and serving on ACtivator teams provided me with numerous leadership skills including working with intergenerational groups, conflict management, event planning, and more. I use skills learned through my time as an ACtivator daily, both in my professional and personal life.
