During my time at Austin College I majored in public health and minored in biology and Spanish. This fall I will be attending the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Public Health for my masters in public health with a concentration in maternal, child, and family health. Due to growing health disparities for minority populations I made it my goal to work with these communities and improve their access to quality care. I appreciate the multi-faceted nature of the public health field as it allows health issues to be tackled from multiple angles. Not only this, but it addresses the health of the population, not just those who can afford care. Following this program, I plan to continue onto a career in women’s health research.
