COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is for intermediate and advanced Spanish students (prerequisite: SPAN 102) who want to improve their language skills and or complete the language requirement for their degree plan. Successful completion of this course will fulfill the language competency (SPAN 201). Students will live with families in the beautiful city of Heredia, Costa Rica, just north of the capital, San Jose. Students will attend language classes in the morning and participate in cultural activities in the afternoons. There will be exciting excursions on the weekends.
Classes: Level of Spanish classes offered are based on student’s proficiency level – elementary or intermediate levels, 4 hours per day/20 hours per week.
Lodging: Two students per homestay. Homestays offer two meals per day and laundry service once a week. Internet available in the homestay and at the school
Weekend excursions: The Arenal volcano; hike and boat ride; the Monteverde Cloud Forest with a zipline in the cloud forest; tour a coffee and sugar cane plantation; one weekend at a beach on the Pacific side of Costa Rica
