Austin College Professor of History Hunt Tooley will begin a five-week series for Sherman’s First United Bank and its Wind Down Wednesday talks this week on Wednesday, March 30. His series is titled “Six Events of World War I That Changed the World.”
The sessions start at 4 p.m. Wednesdays at First United Bank at 401 East Taylor. Park in the back as the lobby doors will be locked.
Tooley said the series is a set of case studies of events and episodes of World War I that shaped the modern world in real, tangible ways. He has written and studied the Great War for nearly 40 years and has written two books and many articles on the subject.
Tooley, the A.M. Pate Jr. Chair of History, has been a member of the Austin College faculty since 1991.
