Princeton Review Ranks Faculty 14th

School named one of "Best Western Colleges"

Austin College is one of the country's best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review. The 2011 edition of the annual college guide The Best 373 Colleges ranked the Austin College faculty 14th for academic excellence in the “Professors Get High Marks” category.

Jacqueline Moore, professor of history, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) during the 2010-2011 academic year, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Todd Penner, the Gould H. and Marie Cloud Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Austin College, is spending his summer as a Scholar in Residence at Union Theological Seminary in New York.

Carl Iwasaki Iwasaki Set to Take Division I Job
Head baseball coach Carl Iwasaki has stepped down from that position to become the head coach at the University of Northern Colorado. Iwasaki recently completed his sixth season at the helm of the 'Roos and leaves with a career record of 102-130.

The Austin College football program begins a new era with a familiar face as former Kangaroo defensive coordinator Loren Dawson returns to Sherman to take the helm in 2010.

Mel Tjeerdsma Alumni Honored at Legends Event
Austin College celebrated the success of athletics alumni and honored coaching achievements at the College's annual Legends awards dinner. The honorees included four Athletic Hall of Honor inductees, the Coach Joe Spencer Award for Lifetime Achievement and Meritorious Service in Coaching, and the Kedric Couch Alumni Coach of the Year award.
