Drayton McLane is Commencement Speaker

Business leader and philanthropist Drayton McLane, Jr., chairman of the McLane Group and CEO of the Houston Astros Baseball Club, has been selected to present the Austin College Commencement address for the class of 2011. The commencement exercises will be held Sunday, May 15, at 8:30 a.m. on the Clyde L. Hall Graduation Court on campus.

Love & Magic
Entertainment from renowned close-up magicians will highlight a lovely evening at the Dallas Park City Club on February 11, just in time for Valentine's celebrations. Tickets remain available through February 7 at $150 each, with proceeds benefitting Austin College scholarships in the arts.


Students Named to Fall Dean's List
Austin College's Dean's List has been announced for Fall Term 2010, according to Austin College Registrar Texas Rüegg. Students named to the Dean's List earned a semester grade point average of at least 3.75 on a 4.0 scale and are ranked in the top 20 percent of the student body.

A Night of "Magic: The Secret Art"
Magic comes to Austin College as some of the world's most famous and influential magicians appear in a Las Vegas-style show, "Magic: The Secret Art," at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, in Ida Green Theatre. Tickets are $10 each for the general public and $3 each with a current Austin College ID.

GO! Forum Posey Leadership Award - Tickets on Sale Now
Tickets are now available for the presentation of the 2011 Posey Leadership Award honoree Zainab Salbi at 7:30 p.m. on February 17 at the Wyly Theatre of the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas. Proceeds support study abroad scholarships at Austin College. Salbi will speak on campus that morning.

Law Symposium 2011
The 2011 Dr. Kenneth Street Law Symposium, sponsored by the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation, the Austin College "L" Association, Student Assembly, and Pre-Law Society, will be held on Friday, February 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Watch the website for more details.

Jno. E. Owens Conference Addresses Global Business Issues
"Human Capital and Global Business: Implications for the Liberal Arts College" is the focus of the 2011 Jno. E. Owens Conference on Thursday, March 3, at Austin College. The full day of presentations, held in Hoxie Thompson Auditorium of Sherman Hall, is free and open to the public.
