Homecoming 2010 is here!
Only two weeks remain until Homecoming 2010 on October 21-24! No matter when you last were on campus, Homecoming is not to be missed! The weekend is a great time to reconnect with old friends, visit with faculty, meet today’s students, see the campus changes, cheer on the 'Roo athletes, and get back in the classroom through Alumni College. TAPS Public Transit will be operating free during the weekend to all reunion sites.

Posey Leadership Forum Welcomes Elizabeth Gore
Elizabeth McKee Gore, executive director of Nothing But Nets, Girl Up, and global partnerships for the United Nations Foundation, will be the guest of honor at this year's Austin College Posey Leadership Forum on October 21. Her lecture is free and open to the public.

"AC Unplugged" Challenges Residents
Austin College students are being challenged to flip the switch and unplug appliances this month in a residence hall competition to reduce energy use as part of the Think Green initiative launched on campus last spring.

"Chinese Joan of Arc" Film Shown
Qiu Jin became the first female martyr for China's 1911 revolution and is celebrated as a national heroine today. The screening of Autumn Gem and a session with its Chinese-American filmmakers are free and open to the public.

Theatre Presents The Mound Builders
Austin College theatre students will stage The Mound Builders at 7:30 p.m. on October 21 and 22, and 2 p.m. on October 23 in Ida Green Theatre in Ida Green Communication Center on the Austin College campus. Tickets are $8 each. There is no charge for students, faculty, and staff with a valid Austin College ID. |

Exhibits Memorialize Artist Richard Neidhardt
Austin College is hosting two art exhibits in honor of the late Richard Neidhardt, who was associated with the art faculty at Austin College for more than 40 years. "Richard Neidhardt: 1921-2009: A Retrospective of Sculpture and Painting" will run through November 5 in the Forster Art Complex.

'Roo Run Supports Local Charity
Runners, tighten your laces! Austin College's Kappa Gamma Chi sorority invites all interested participants to join the 5K 'Roo Run on October 23.
The run is a part of the Austin College Homecoming celebration and is a fundraiser for the Grayson Grand Central Station - Soup Kitchen.

Men's Soccer Team Unites with Komen Foundation
When the men's soccer team takes the field against Centre on October 17, the 'Roos and Colonels will write the next chapter in a burgeoning rivalry within the SCAC. Unlike most rivalries, however, this one did not grow out of on-field competition, but through a united effort to raise awareness of breast cancer. |

Rise Named 'Roo Baseball Coach
James Rise has been named the new head coach of the Austin College baseball team, Athletics Director David Norman has announced. Rise comes to Austin College from Occidental College, where he served as an assistant coach for two seasons. |

University of Dallas Set to Join SCAC
The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced that the University of Dallas has accepted an invitation to join the conference. Currently a Division III independent, the school will join the SCAC at the beginning of the 2011-12 academic year. |
