The Community Series and the Greater Texoma Orchestra will present the winners of the second annual Young Soloists Concerto Competition on Saturday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Wynne Chapel on the Austin College campus. Ticket information is available through the Community Series Office at 903.813.2251.
The concert will feature piano soloists Lauren Li of Dallas and Jennifer Pearson of Carrollton, performing movements of W.A. Mozart’s Concerto in A Major, K.414, and
F. J. Haydn’s Concerto in D Major, Hob. VIII/11, accompanied by the Greater Texoma Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Ricky Duhaime, Austin College Mosher Professor of Music.
“Come help us celebrate the talents of the next generation of musicians, with music that is certain to please and inspire,” Duhaime said.
Included in the evening’s concert will be the premiere of a new edition by Duhaime of Haydn’s Sinfonia (Overture) to his first Italian opera, Acide. Following an award ceremony highlighting the achievements of the young soloists, the Greater Texoma Orchestra will conclude the evening with a performance of the engaging Symphony No. 29 in A Major, K.201, by Mozart.
