International students at Austin College have an impact on the campus and our community, adding values to the diversity that the college strives to achieve and foster. It is important for Austin College to provide support to ensure a transition as seamless as possible.
The Director of International Programs acts as the liaison for international students between all campus departments. Support is provided for all aspects of the acclimation process including (but not limited to):
- Orientation
- Academic support
- On-campus engagement
- Making travel arrangements
- Seeking internship and employment opportunities

Things to know
Foreign Language Competency Requirement
Austin College requires students to complete three semesters of a foreign language. International students can have this requirement waived if they are bilingual. Students wishing to apply for a waiver should speak with the Chair of the Department of Classical and Modern Languages.
Eligibilities:
- International students who have completed at least eight grades in a school where the language of instruction was not English.
- Students who have a diploma from a high school where the language of instruction was English may receive a waiver if they can demonstrate successful completion of native language classes.
