A computer science and biochemistry major at Austin College, David Savage ’07 earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from the Medical Scientist Training Program at The University of Texas McGovern Medical School and the MD Anderson Cancer Center UT Health Graduate School of Biomedical Science in 2018. After a two-year residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, he moved to California where he is a third-year internal medicine resident at UC San Diego.
In 2020, he was elected to a three-year term on the American Medical Association’s Council on Medical Education.
He has been active in professional organizations throughout his career, serving as the medical student member of the Texas Medical Association Board of Trustees and as the TMA Medical Student Section chair.
