Description: Students in this course will explore the mathematics, strategy, play and culture of various modern and European board games. In particular students will study the design of modern strategy games. Students will also investigate and implement optimal strategies using mathematical analysis and theory on games emphasizing strategy over luck. Students will also examine the form of board games, the hobbyist culture that surrounds them, and the evolution of tabletop gaming.
