Study Abroad 411 for Parents and Guardians
Austin College faculty and staff are very aware that there are a number of concerns not only for students, but for parents, related to studying in another country for an entire semester. However, careful preparation during the pre-departure phase of study abroad makes for a more fulfilling experience.
The Office of International Programs will do its utmost to ensure that student’s needs are met and that students can receive an academically rigorous experience abroad that is equivalent to that here at Austin College. As students are preparing for their journey, they will be developing important planning and problem-solving skills often needed throughout life. The “icing on top of the cake” is the cultural experience that students gain in preparation for the “smaller” world in which we live.
