Katherine (Kat) graduated in 2007 with a major in Psychology and a minor in biology and was a 2007 Teach For America Corps Member, serving for 3 years on the Texas Mexico Border. After TFA, Kat continued her pursuit of healthcare administration, obtaining a Graduate Assistantship and full scholarship for her Master of Public Health from UConn. As a GA, Kat supported and wrote her thesis on the 3 year randomized study assessing parents’ perceptions of sugar-sweetened beverages after “bytes” of education. With her MPH, she served in a variety of healthcare administration roles at Community Health Center, Inc. and Yale New Haven Health in Connecticut. But, in December 2016 she made the biggest leap and started her own healthcare technology company, SimplyVital Health. Leveraging blockchain technology, her company is focused on increasing access to healthcare data to decrease healthcare costs globally.
