DESTINATION
New York City
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Have the greatest two weeks of your life in New York City! NYC has the best music, entertainment, architecture, museums, tourist sites, and food in the world and we will experience all of it. For some, this trip may be an introduction to travel and how to get around a big city; for others this trip may be an introduction to classical music and museums. For everyone, this trip will be a way to investigate the immigrant experience through Ellis Island and an actual NYC Tenement. We will spend about one week on campus learning about the concerts and museums we’ll attend, about the history of NYC, about the transportation and how to use the subway and buses, and how to eat inexpensively in NYC. Our two weeks in the city will consist of attending concerts (in the great concert halls: Carnegie Hall, David Geffen, Alice Tully, and more), visiting museums (the Metropolitan, MoMA, the Cloisters, the Guggenheim, the Frick, and others) and seeing amazing architecture. There will be time each day to explore the city and there will be planned events every day as well.
