Sherman High School Student Art Exhibit Coming to Austin College
SHERMAN, TEXAS — The public is invited to Austin College for an exhibit of art created by Sherman High School students, titled “A Menagerie of Young Minds: Bearcat Art.” A reception will be held Thursday, March 21, from 6-8 p.m. in Forster Art Complex Dennis Gallery. The exhibit is available to view through March 29 during the Gallery’s regular hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sarah Sandoval is an Austin College senior art major who will be continuing in the Austin Teacher Program. Under the mentorship of Sherman High School art teacher Sherry Young, she has been working as a student teacher for the past year. Sandoval is excited to give students a chance to exhibit their work on a college campus, and to share it with the community.
“Mrs. Young constantly displays student work at the high school, which really brings their work to life and adds so much to the halls of Sherman High. I kind of just thought, ‘Why not bring that to AC?’” said Sandoval. “These kids are some of the best at making something out of nothing, and with every art project, they grow and add to their artistic palette to hopefully carry with them everywhere they go.”
