My experience at the Sam Rayburn Library for my summer CSMS internship allowed me to learn about museum management and give me basic practice handling archives while allowing me to connect more deeply to the life of Sam Rayburn, an important historical figure not only for Texas, but the entire country. During my work as an intern, I completed various projects for the library. I recorded museum artifact; library artifact; and archival material inventories. In addition, I designed an exhibit for the “Gifts of the Nation” display that will be featured in the library and assisted in creating a new exhibit of publicly donated materials about the U.S.S. Sam Rayburn. Finally, I participated in the installation of quilts for the 2023 Bonham Quilt Hop and acted as a docent for the library during the Quilt Hop.
